There’s so much about love we don’t understand! Did you know that not all love is the same? Here are some of the different types of love:
Infatuation — Think back to when you first fell in love with your current partner or spouse. When that happened, all you wanted to do was be with that person at every moment of the day. You were so strongly attracted to them that you felt like the luckiest person in the world because THEY wanted to be with YOU.
Everyone goes through the infatuation stage when they first fall in love. This type of love is very high in passion and desire. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s important to understand that there is no balance in this type of love. It’s the seed that helps your love blossom into something greater and deeper.
Empty — If you and your partner are committed to remaining in the relationship, that’s a good thing! It means you’ll fight for your love no matter what.
But what happens if the passion and desire for intimacy has left your relationship for good? You no longer feel attracted to the other person, and you’d rather do anything besides spending time with him/her. When this happens, all that remains of your love is the commitment side of things. This is an empty love, and one that you should think long and hard about. If you’re only in the relationship “for the kids”, because you don’t want to prove your family right, or because of inertia, you’re very likely in the wrong relationship for the wrong reason!
In Part 4, we’ll look at two more of the different types of love you need to know about…
