Knowing what to talk about on a first date can be a challenge, especially if the other person isn’t forthcoming with their answers or information!
Thankfully, we’ve got a few simple topics to help you break the ice and get the conversation rolling on your first date:
- TV shows — It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t watch TV these days! There has to be a show or two you have in common, so why not ask them what kind of TV they enjoy. Perhaps you’ll find that you two have a lot more TV shows in common than you’d think, and talking about your favorite episodes or story arcs can be a great way to break the ice.
- Movies — This will help you to find common ground with the person, and may just give you an idea for the second date. You may not like all the movies they watch, but there has to be a movie or two that you both enjoy.
- Daily life — One great way to get the other person talking about their day is to ask them about it. Ask them what a typical day in their life is, how they plan their work and fun, and so on. It may seem a bit forward, but that won’t really bother most people. They will usually have a good time telling you what they do, where they work, and what their life is like. People LOVE to talk about themselves!
- Hobbies and interests –– Of course this is something you’ll want to talk about on the first date! You want to find out as much about the other person as possible, and their hobbies and interests will tell you a lot about them.
