How can you know when it’s time to leave your partner or end your relationship? Here are a few signs you need to break up:
- Your mind is filled with thoughts of “what if?” — Do you spend a lot of time thinking about all the other “fish in the sea”? You’ve grown so accustomed to your partner that you can’t stand him or her any longer. You want to see what else is out there, and you may have even considered an affair just to feel that love and desire. If this is you, perhaps it’s time to end things and actually go out and FIND that person who is better for you.
- You go through the motions –– You say “I love you” to each other, but you don’t really mean it. You live together and do stuff together, but it feels hollow, empty. When a relationship has grown stagnant and boring, many people simply go through the motions just so they don’t have to confront the fact that they are “on their way out”. If you’re not willing to invest in your relationship to keep it alive, you may want to consider ending it.
- Fighting is the norm –– There is a certain amount of bickering and arguing to be expected from any relationship. After all, a relationship or marriage is two totally different people trying to reach a never-ending series of compromises on all manner of things big and small. It’s natural for there to be arguing and even a bit of fighting. But when that’s ALL you do, it’s usually a sign that something is broken in the relationship. Either you stopped loving each other, you stopped trying to find a way to make things work, or you’re subconsciously driving a wedge between you and your partner.
In Part 4, we’ve got a few more signs you need to break up…
