Think you’ve got what it takes to be in a happy, committed, mature relationship? It’s not as simple as you might think!
Not everyone is prepared to handle the challenge that comes with relationships, but here are a couple of signs YOU are ready for a relationship:
You are sensitive of others – There is a certain amount of selfishness that is required for success in this day and age. You can’t spend your life worrying about how your actions will offend others, or else you’ll never get anywhere. But that doesn’t mean you are insensitive!
When you are sensitive of others, it means you care about their feelings and try to avoid doing things you know will hurt them. If you do hurt their feelings, you can apologize like a mature adult and try to prevent similar problems in the future. You can adjust your actions and attitudes to show concern for them, empathizing with your fellow human being. That is a sign of emotional maturity and intelligence, and it will get you a LONG way in your relationships!
You take responsibility — We all have our problems, weaknesses, and mistakes; the only difference is how we handle them. Do you blame others for all the things that go wrong in your life? If so, it’s a sign of emotional immaturity.
Someone who is emotionally mature will take responsibility for their own actions and decisions. If those actions and decisions lead to problems, they take responsibility instead of blaming the problem on someone else. This is of the utmost importance for a healthy relationship, as it will help you accept your share of the responsibility for keeping your relationship alive.
