Date Night: Video Game Night

If you’re lucky enough to be dating a girl who loves to play video games, you can turn it into a whole romantic date night!

First, you need to find a game that you can both play. Find out what types of games she likes and is good at, and see if there is a game you will both enjoy. A few ideas for games include:

  • First person shooters. There’s something wonderful about playing splitscreen, with you two against the enemy–or against each other.
  • Fighting games. Games like Mortal Combat will be fun for the more competitive gamers, and you can find all sorts of fun ways to “punish” the loser.
  • Racing games. Yet another highly competitive game, but one that could lead to some fun if you put the right “consequences” or “prizes” on each race.

Of course, the list of games is endless, but see if you can’t find a game that combines your love of competition with your gaming skills.

Food and Drink: If you want to go classic, you want video game snacks like:

  • Cheetos/Doritos/chips
  • Soda
  • Monster/Red Bull
  • Popcorn

Of course, these tend to be fairly messy snacks, so you can stick with cleaner foods like:

  • Sliders
  • Finger sandwiches
  • Burritos

Ambience: The only thing you’ll need is the right gaming system, a couple of controllers, and a comfortable place to sit. If you have that, you’ve got the mood set!

Other Important Items: Be willing to lose. If she is a competitive gamer, she’ll want you to play your best, but she may not handle losing too well. Losing to her in video games may be the best way to keep her happy. Just don’t let her know that you’re losing. That will be even worse than beating her!
